Wilderness unfolds in a dark field that contains audience and performers. In this site-adaptive work, choreographer and director Yanira Castro contemplates wilderness as a minimal and stark environment—a barren desert or the surface of a lake – where action is brought into high relief. The dance begins with a stark and emotional solo by an older man, and a quartet of dancers emerges to perform a virtuosic dance that transforms the terrain. Viewers are implicated in the performance ecosystem as their behavior influences the sound and movement.
